CalCPA Honors Five with Women to Watch Awards
To Recognize Service, Contributions to CPA Profession
MARINA DEL REY, Calif. — The California Society of CPAs (CalCPA) has honored five CPAs with its Women to Watch Awards for 2011 during ceremonies at the Women’s Leadership Forum at the Marriott Marina del Rey.
Receiving the award in the emerging leaders category were Hillary Trout and Kristen Rampe. Trout is a senior manager and leads the consulting and business services function at Longcrier & Associates in San Luis Obispo. Rampe is a senior manager at Frank, Rimerman + Co., San Francisco.
Patricia Chantler and Erin Fukuto received the award in the experienced leader category. Chantler is tax partner-in-charge with Sensiba San Filippo, LLP, in San Francisco. Fukuto is a partner with Raimondo Pettit Group, Irvine.
CalCPA honored Susan R. Legaspi with its Trailblazer award, which recognizes an individual with a story so inspiring, it deserved its own category. A native of the Philippines, Legaspi worked her way up from secretary to management positions at two Big Four accounting firms and eventually became CEO of Zuehls, Legaspi & Co., Los Angeles.
CalCPA selected the experienced and emerging leader recipients in partnership with the American Institute of CPAs and the AICPA’s Women’s Initiatives Executive Committee. The Trailblazer Award was presented solely by CalCPA.
Criteria for both the emerging leader and experienced leader categories included community or public service. Candidates for the emerging leader award also were evaluated on their demonstration of leadership, contributions to the profession, creation and implementation of unique initiatives and involvement with educational institutions. Additional criteria for the experienced leader category included authorship of articles, contributions to the CPA profession and mentorship of other professionals.
